Ada Okafor, DVM

Ada grew up in Nampa, the daughter of a pharmacist and a school bus driver, and decided at nine that she was going to be a vet after a neighbor’s collie let her listen to its heartbeat. She trained out of state, worked eight years in general and emergency practice, and came home in 2012 to open Wagtail with a borrowed ultrasound and three employees.

She’s the doctor who will sit on the floor with a nervous dog, explain the plan twice if you ask, and tell you plainly when something can wait. Her focus is everyday medicine: puppy and kitten care, dental disease, and the slow, kind management of older pets.

At home she has a twelve-year-old terrier mix named Pepper, who has opinions about the scale, and a cat called Waffles, who has opinions about everything else.
